COMPARE · UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

A free Kahoot! alternative for when accuracy matters more than speed.

Game-show quizzes are great for energy. When you need to know what each student actually understands, Quizoma is a free Kahoot! alternative built for self-paced quizzes and tests: written answers marked fairly, results per question, and reports you can hand on. No ads, nothing to unlock.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Kahoot! is built for game-show style quizzes — a big screen, a game PIN, points for speed and a leaderboard — and it also offers self-paced challenges. Quizoma is built for quizzes and tests students take at their own pace, with fair marking of written answers and reports. It is free, with no ads.

For a lively review game at the end of a lesson, Kahoot! is hard to beat. For a check you want to trust, or a test that counts, Quizoma fits better.

Where Kahoot! is the better choice

A live game for the whole room

Questions on the big screen, everyone answering at once, music and a leaderboard — Kahoot! is built for that moment, and Quizoma doesn't try to be.

Lots of ready-made games

Kahoot! has a large library of quizzes made by other people. On Quizoma you mostly write your own, with a few free templates to start from.

Where Quizoma fits better

Checks you can trust

Students work at their own pace, so the score reflects what they know rather than how fast they tap. Every result shows accuracy per question, so you see which idea didn't land.

Written answers, marked fairly

Short answers and fill in the blanks with typo-tolerant grading: you choose how strict it is, and you can override any mark — or switch the quiz to manual marking.

Everything free, no ads

Every feature is free today, with no ads and no in-app purchases. By default an account holds 10 quizzes of up to 20 questions each.

Reports you can hand on

Download PDF, Excel or CSV reports for the class, or a parent report for one student that shows the class only as totals — never other students' names.

Switching to Quizoma in 3 steps

  1. Bring your questions

Paste them or import a .txt or .csv file. Every question is shown for review before it is saved.

  2. Pick how it runs

Test, Practice or Speed drill — tap ⓘ beside any setting to see what it does.

  3. Share one code

Students join at quizoma.com/take with the 6-character code or the QR — nothing to install.

Honest limits

Quizoma has no live leaderboard or host-led game mode. Everyone signs in with a Google account. The browser version, Quizoma Studio, is in beta, and the Android app is free on Google Play from 1 November 2026.

Questions

Yes, for quizzes and tests that students take at their own pace. Every feature is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases. It is not a live game show with a leaderboard on a big screen.

No. Each student takes the quiz on their own device and sees their own result. You see everyone's scores and per-question accuracy in your results and reports.

Yes. Turn on the Rapid Response Bonus for timed questions and quicker correct answers earn more points, never less than half. A wrong answer earns nothing however fast it was.

Share the 6-character code or the QR code. Students open quizoma.com/take in any browser, enter the code and sign in with Google. There is nothing to install.

Yes. Paste them as text or import a .txt or .csv file of questions, options and right answers. Every question is shown for review before it is saved.
